Hello lovelies! Hope you’re all well and enjoying August so far!

Today’s blog post is all my tips on being in front of the lens!! When I first started blogging I felt extremely nervous about being photographed in the street and especially being photographed by someone I didn’t know.

I used to freak out so much I’d be non stop weeing before hand (not sure if it’s just me that this happens to when I’m nervous) but I ended up just staying down ally streets or indoors, however I really wanted to explore and had so many ideas for outdoor shoots. Shooting in the street can be extremely nerve racking at first- with people watching and the occasional weird comment. But in all honesty people are just extremely interested and they are only there for a split second and then you’ll never see them again. Also if it’s  doing what makes you happy, no one should stop that!!

One thing I always remember that helped is to just look past the stares and focus on your photographer, taking a pause moment while people walk closely by can also help. People are just a tad interested and are probably thinking ‘oh who’s she/he?, ‘What’s she/he up too?’. It’s also important to be mindful whilst shooting too, like don’t stand outside someones house and chat really loudly for ages, as people may be in and don’t really wanna hear that.

Also cat calling can and does happen…I’ve dealt with all sorts being said and it is extremely frustrating and boring but you need to just ignore them. It’s so horrible that’s what people think is okay, but my advice would be to ignore it and walk on or just stare back. But just a little tip if it’s builders or company owners, take a picture of the company sign they work for and email the company with a complaint.

Outfit details below. Movement: Here I walked back and forward on the stop towards the camera!

Anyway here are a few of my tips on being in front of the camera…

Start with working with a photographer or someone you feel comfortable with. I started by sticking to shooting with friends or family, yes my dad has had to take some pictures for me before, which was always hilarious as it ended in mostly me with a double chin.

I think finding someone you click with is important. It’s okay to not feeling 100% confident at first but just ease yourself in, do maybe one of two outfits to start with; plan your locations before hand and work out changing spots so you don’t have to worry about that on the day. But usually if you ask politely to use a pub or cafe toilet it’s usually always okay, or if you fancy it buy yourself a changing tent off amazon! I’m debating the fact I need one in my life after I spent a day changing on the seafront with a load of people on the pier watching and laughing, which is usually the reality of all shoots changing in doorways and streets under t-shirts and dresses.

If your feeling worried about people staring try organise a time after 9am when people have gone to work… I mean unfortunately there will always be people around and about who do stare, but they have gone in a second!

After a while shoots will get easier and I’ve found that working with new photographers is so lovely and exciting when it comes to creating new and different content/images! I have met some of the loveliest people through stepping out my comfort zone and doing this! but honestly it’s all about practice, It will come!! If you ever feel stuck for a vision or an idea on how you’d want your overall style or feed to be, I’ve always found Pinterest extremely helpful as it allows you to be creative and moodboard the things you love and see it all visually.

MOVEMENT. My goodness it’s important. It wasn’t until I did a shoot with Lydia Collins a year ago now, that I realised just how important movement really was when it comes to shooting. Moving back and forward on the spot, which actually can make you wobble so much. It’s surprising how moving back and forth on the spot can cause you to nearly fall over on the spot! But it looks great on camera! Also laugh!! Even if it’s fake you will 100% end up laughing, I find my best photos always seem to be me caught of guard and laughing with whoever is shooting me.

Outfit details below.  Movement: Again walking past the camera within the frame of the shot to get this image.

Always have a prop! Mine tends to always be a bag or sunglasses or my hair! Just something to make sure you don’t have awkward hands flying about. However, coffee cups, necklaces or earrings, food, flowers anything works!!! It’s also nice if something tells a bit of a story, so experiment with your props and locations.

Don’t be afraid to work with your photographer on creating the angles and shots you want to achieve- it’s all about communication. I think sometimes I was always to scared to speak about a vision I had in mind, but if you’ve got one speak about. I’m sure whoever you are working with would love to discuss your vision and any ideas they have too!!

Enjoy it and have fun with creating new and exciting content. I tend to plan a lot of my shoots, in terms of outfits and locations. Sometimes it’s hard to plan a location as I find my favourite ones and ones I stumble across when I’ve chosen a certain area, so I usually decide on coloured backgrounds or more street style or plain backgrounds! It really depends on your own individual style, but experiment and enjoy your shooting days. Also it’s important to wear clothes that reflects you and your personality, wear clothes that you feel comfortable in as it will really show on camera.

Basically just have FUN!!! enjoy it all and be YOU. It’s such a creative thing and a lot of work goes into peoples images so enjoy the process. I also thought I’d add in a little about how I work in terms of shooting as I’ve had a few questions about it lately! So I shoot on a Olympus Pen EPL8 with a 45mm lens and recently have been using my 17mm (which I love)! I tend to shoot  6 outfits weekly on one day a week, as I have a lot of uni work so one day a week right now is all I can manage.  But it’s just what works best for me, I know a lot of people work differently so it’s about finding a balance and working in a way that allows you to feel relaxed and excited about it all. If you ever have any questions about any of this please do send me a message, I’ll happily answer anything!

Outfit details below. Real laughs with the beautiful Cree Bashford, who I met up with to shoot some outfits together, and I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

In this post I thought I’d include some images from my favourite outfits this week which I feel super lucky to receive from one of my favourite brands NA-KD. which honestly have pieces for every occasion, at any time. I must admit my holiday wardrobe is slowly growing from browsing on their site!

First off is this stunning suit set, I fell in love with these beautiful wide leg trousers , which are absolutely perfect for weddings and special occasions or dressing down with a white tee and pair of chunky trainers and then I saw the blazer!! If you’ve noticed I’ve fallen for anything belted recently so I was sold on this suit! CLICK HERE for the stunning trousers and CLICK HERE for the perfect pink blazer!

For the second outfit I thought I’d try something a little out of my colour comfort zone, and go for a full satin look, I mean who doesn’t love a statement satin outfit! (another obsession of mine) but how gorgeous are these shorts!! CLICK HERE to shop. (they come in black and green too!)

These satin shirts have become my new best friend, I wear them everywhere with shorts at the minute and I can’t wait to lay on the beach and throw this on over a bikini in September! CLICK HERE for the Satin shirt.

Thanks so much for reading lovelies, hope it was slightly helpful, even if I did rant on about it all!! I also want to say a huge thanks to the lovely Cree Bashford for being a wonderful photographer and taking these images for me! Her website is HERE and her Instagram is HERE if you wanna check her out!

Love, India Moon.

P.S. Also if you want to treat yourself to any NA-KD fashion pieces I also have a 20% off code which is valid for two weeks ‘india2018’ !!

Hello lovelies,

Hope you are all well. I wanted to do a post today and share with you all a little bit more about me, my Instagram journey and answer some of the questions I’ve been asked a lot about recently, which may have some helpful tips for some of you. However, I’m no expert and this experience so far has been focusing on enjoying the whole process and just learning lots along the way! I’ve also included my top 5 co-ords at the moment (all denim of course) with all links to shop included at the end, as I’m actually obsessed with them right now!

I want to briefly start by talking about the ups and downs of my social media journey. Starting blogging and being on social media has so many amazing positives, of which I love, however I put a lot of pressure on myself daily to be posting more, to create better content and to write more regularly. I think that’s because I can be a bit of a perfectionist, and can feel really down when I’m not able to meet my own expectations. I want to be able to write tons of blog posts and be able to share my stories or experiences more with you all. I do adore writing but right now it really isn’t possible for me, so I’ll be posting as much as I can instead in the meantime! I’m having to look after myself whilst focusing on completing my university journey, which finishes this September. Which I cannot wait for…

I’m sharing this because if you do go into this industry and you love every minute of it, I believe you have to realise that your health and self-care need to be prioritsed above everything else. Recently I spoke to the lovely Beth Sandland who said to me “You can’t pour from an empty cup” and it’s so true, also you need to follow her if you don’t already, her account is stunning and she has the best blog posts! You need to do what you can.  I’ve struggled with my psychological health over the last few months, and I’ve had to force myself to say no to a lot of things, which has left me feeling a little defeated. It’s hard to sometimes know when you need time out or when to switch off from it all, but it’s extremely important to take time to yourself and no matter what your doing in life BE YOURSELF, listen to your body. It’s your temple after all, you need to listen to it, and its the only one you have.

I have to remember this as I do struggle with wanting to do this full time and want to just put my all into doing what I love, yet right now I also have other commitments I need to focus on too. What has helped me is staying positive and giving myself one day a week focusing just on my blog. Some weeks this doesn’t always work, but managing your time so you can do the things you love or giving yourself enough time to relax and do something for you is vital. Remember a difficult day is okay, and theres a new day around the corner, and remind yourself to appreciate all the things you have.

Anyway enough ranting on, I thought I’d share a little bit about my Instagram journey and any tips I have to any of you who wish to start a blog or who are just generally interested (if any of you are). I’ll be honest, I still find it surreal that anyone wants to read my blogs and it fills me with so much love knowing there are a few of you reading this. So, I started about a year ago now because I realised how much I loved styling, photographing and being able to have my own little space to write. Now this is all based on my own opinion and experiences, and some people may have a different view and I think it’s all about what works for you and doing things because you are enjoying them and they are making you happy.

I started with no intention in mind other than sharing my love for clothes and my thoughts, I do this alongside working in retail, studying an intensive course of Film in London and working on meeting inspiring content creators who would like some photos taken/ building my photography portfolio @GloriandMoonPhotography. So far it’s been extremely rewarding doing this as a hobby, and it’s opened up so many amazing opportunities I could of only dream of.  I’ve met so many incredibly beautiful people, many who I really see as being some of my best friends for life. The support, inspiration and the amount of insanely talented people within this industry is mind blowing and the amount of hard work!! I’m constantly inspired daily by people I follow and feel extremely lucky to be surrounded by it all.

I get asked a lot how I’ve grown my following, and I never really know how to respond. For me, I think it’s been consistency, I mean I post in threes so I guess thats easier for me as I choose to post three times a day to share different aspects of an outfit/different positions etc. Which is actually partly because I like the way it looks also. I think if your putting the time and effort in to create quality content, something will always come of that. I also have back up posts, I use an app called ‘The Grid’ which allows me to plan all my posts and I usually have up to 2-3 weeks worth of content so I don’t have to think too much about running out. To have this much content I always plan to shoot one day a week and shoot around 5-8 outfits in a day, of course it’s what works for you though.  Right now this is what works for me and I think it’s about finding a balance amongst your lifestyle.

Now you guys might think to this “yeah whatever India…” but I really think not focusing on my growth has helped as well, as I believe if you spend time comparing and focusing on growth, it can really get you down and effect how you feel towards your work.  I also think, being positive towards everything you do and supporting other bloggers/ influencers who you find inspiring or who’s content you adore.

For me one of the biggest helps for me has been, being shared by other people within their stories or being reposted by brands who I’ve worked for. Which is always such a wonderful surprise and I always want to pinch myself, like is that really me… ahh!! My overall tip though, would be… be true to yourself, create content that you love: it’s your space, do it because it makes you happy and you enjoy it: if you are finding yourself feeling affected negatively by social media or find yourself comparing your journey with others take time out. Your health is worth so much more, and doing something like this should be because you love it. If you are comparing growth, instead of feeling down about your own growth from it, look at it as inspiring because they are proving that growth can be achieved naturally.

I could go on forever but that’s a little about me and my journey so far. If you are reading this and you have any questions please feel free to message me, I will always answer any questions if you have any, I mean I’m no expert but I happily will answer anything. I also want to say thank you so so much for all of your support, love, positivity and being such an amazing support system to me. I appreciate every single one of you, and if I could I’d give you all hugs.

Love, India Moon.

Hello Lovelies!!

Hope you are all well and had an extremely happy and snowy February! I just cannot get over the weather, it might just be me but I was expecting it to be warm in spring?!  I know that might seem a little silly, but please come back sun and warmth?!?

So I’ve officially decided from now on, I’ll be posting one blog post a month based only on my favourite monthly outfit or outfits. That depends if I’m being my indecisive self and fallen for more outfits. However, February’s favourite monthly outfit for me was definitely this one. I have found an absolute gem of a brand on JD’s website, and I’m in loveeeee!

Feel like I’ve been living under a rock recently, because I keep finding more and more new brands that I can’t get enough of and SikSilk are one of them!

The most perfect denim pieces. I don’t know about you all but finding Mom styled jeans that fit me right is a huge challenge, but I’ve found some!!!! They fit over my bum and round my waist, for once!! I also found my dream nike shoes and of course they had to be pink!! I want to keep this very pictured based, and not just me ranting on and on…so here is my favourite February outfit!!!! Will tag all the pieces below and what sizes I got in each!

Hope you all have an amazing start to March!

Love, India Moon.

SikSilk Rip Mom Jeans- LINK HERE. I’m wearing a size 4. They have so many amazing Mom jeans in so many colours… Next on my list is pink and blue in time or spring/summer!

SikSilk Raw Edge Crop Denim Jacket- LINK HERE. I’m wearing a size 6.

SikSilk Box Logo Bra- LINK HERE. I’m wearing a size 6.

Hello lovelies,

Happy February! We made it through January!! Hope you are all having a lovely start to a new month.

I get asked quite often about what camera I use and and how I edit my photos so I thought I’d create this post today all about it!

I use the Olympus Pen EPL 8 with a 45mm lens and I swear by it. It took me a while to get use to but it is amazing. I’m a little in love with it. The quality of the images are great and its so easy to carry around everywhere. I do also have the 14-42mm lens but ever since I brought the 45mm lens I haven’t taken it off!

The one I brought I have linked HERE! but there are lots of places online you can find them, so it’s good to do your research!

Now for editing… I use three different apps to edit my photos. Firstly, I use AirBrush. This is free from the App Store.

I go into the app and click Magic. On here you can edit what you want added to the image. I tend to just use the brighten and smooth to create a smooth feel to my skin and the photograph. I sometimes add Skin Tone if the image is really dark it will also Brighten up the image, or if you want to look more orange you can darken the image also. It really depends what you want to do, as there is a lot you can mess around with on the app. I tend to only use this briefly and smooth the overall image, as I find it can sometimes make my images look really fake.

Before Image ^

When you click on ‘Magic’ ^ this is what comes up and you are able to edit what you’d like to add to your image. I sometimes add skin tone If I want to Brighten the image! But this can also add a tan!

Secondly, I use SnapSeed! I use this app to edit the brightness and contrast of the image. I go to Tools- Selective and highlight areas of the image I want to brighten, add contrast, saturation or structure to the image. I usually play around with this until I feel happy with the image and then I move onto VSCO.

Once in tools- you have all this choice! I sometimes use ‘Healing’ too if theres something like bird poo on a wall- which happens a lot!!

In ‘Selective’ you can click areas of the image and edit the Brightness, Contras, Saturation or Structure! ^

VSCO!! my favourite app of the lot. Which I’m sure most of you have heard of! You can use the free the free effects or you can search a pay for lots of different effects to add to your images. I use C1 on all my images and move up to 2.0%. I then add 0.5% contrast and depending on the image I add 0.2%-0.5% brightness!

So thats how I do it on all my Instagram Photos!!! Hopefully that was helpful and made sense- always feel free to message me with any questions you may have!!!

Before and After ^

Love, India Moon.

Hello you wonderful lot!

Hope December is treating you well, and you are all feeling christmassy and happy!!! I’m super excited about sharing this post with you because I’m absolutely crazy about Nasty Gal, so being able to work with them as been an absolute Christmas dream. I was extremely lucky to received two of the most incredible outfits s from them I could have cried with happiness.

With Christmas being round the corner, everyones started to dress in sparkles, glittery sequins and such amazing incredible party outfits. Which is why my mission for this month has been finding the most beautiful party looks to share with you all and give you little tips on ways to style these pieces.

First off my favourite party outfit this month! The most beautiful satin suit, Blazer Linked here, Tailored Pants Linked Here!!! Winter Glam is all about layering textures so I decided to style this with some gold layered jewellery and gold hoops. To stay co-ordinated, I picked a foundation shade that tie the outfit together, of course it would be black. Black chunky heels to go with my little black bralet. You could also style this with a lace bralet or white tee, which would be perfect for those New Years eve nights out. It would also work really well with some van/ trainers and cross over body clutch for those Christmas meals, or for that dressed down look. You don’t have to style them together either, the blazer works perfectly over some black jeans and boot heels. I mean I’ll be wearing this at very opportunity I get! I’m just loving all things co-ord this Christmas. They also have a similar satin suit in mustard which is to die for!!! Suit Pants Linked here! Blazer Linked here!

For my second outfit, I choose a little floaty satin pink dress for my family meals and Christmas party meals with friends. Even though its freezing at the moment, styling this sumptuous dress with sock boots and cosy faux fur is so perfect for evenings out and any indoor meals you may have coming up. I don’t know if you can guess but I love anything Satin. To add an little edgy twist to your party look, you could always style this with a statement leather jacket and chunky biker boots. But If your looking for more of an classic elegance, I’d go for some gold or black court heels, a pink clutch, and some silver drop earrings and a delicate chain necklace.  Link to this beautiful dress here!!

Hope you love these outfits as much as me, go browse their beautiful statement pieces this party season on their website, there are some absolute gems!!!

Thanks to Nasty Gal for these incredible pieces!

Love, India Moon.
